Dr. S.M.S. Zabir has been working as a professor in the Department of Creative Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Tsuruoka College since November, 2015. He possesses a PhD in information science from Tohoku University. He also possesses an MS in information science from the same university. Before that, he obtained his master and bachelor of engineering degrees in computer science and engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

Dr. Zabir has taught at Tohoku University, Kyushu University and Waseda University in Japan, Kyung Hee University in Korea and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in Bangladesh. He also worked at the R&D Labs of Japanese maker Panasonic and French telecommunications operator Orange (formerly, France Telecom).

Dr. Zabir conducts research on networking/network protocols, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for seniors, e-health/wellness, application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in everyday life, smart agriculture, ICT technologies and services for the emerging countries, etc.

Dr. Zabir is a Senior Member of the IEEE. He has been serving editorial boards of international journals and program committees of international conferences.
